This is it! the end is in sight! It’s been a great 5 weeks and the battle has come down to this. We find out on Thursday what is in store and give it everything we’ve got……After, we celebrate! I don’t know what HQ has in store but I know it will be a mental push! Let’s end this with the same great effort we’ve been putting the whole time.
As part of the intramural competition, everyone participating will be placed on a team. Each team will have a captain and co captain who will be responsible for slightly organizing, coordinating, cheering and overall leading the team to victory. If this sounds like you, let me know and I’ll put you in as a glorious leader! Only a few more weeks to register. Sign up online or for the in-house portion. It’s always a super fun way to get through the challenge of the open!
This has been one crazy weather week! We don’t know what to expect for so we have elected to cancel the 4:45 and 6:00 classes. We feel
it is safer for our members and to be at home and not traveling in poor light and weather conditions.
If you have children and Thursday turns out to be a non school day bring the gym to wear them out. We will be there til 3:00.
Once again we thank you for your patience and understanding
A little bit more info on how this all works ;). When you sign up, either online or just in house, I’ll assign you to a team. Each week you will complete the open workout (as well as any extra challenges I may throw in) and accumulate points for your team. While the workout is an individual thing, participation and your score will go towards a group score. The winning team at the end of the open will get bragging rights and a kick ass trophy! My goal is 4 teams this year so spread the word and let’s make it happen!
Thursday kicks off the competitive exercising season for 2016! If you haven’t signed up for either the online part or the in-house, don’t worry, you have until Monday at 5pm to do so (although seriously….get on it!) This will be our biggest sign up year ever which is really awesome but we can always add in a few more so if you are on the fence, pick a side 😉
For the wod today make sure you are using a weight that you can maintain form throughout. The deadlifts are moderate but high volume so make sure you can stay solid for every rep. If you are doing the open wod on Friday and looking for your bedst score, may not want to go HAM on this one
So today is the first sign up day of the 2016 Crossfit Open and with that comes our announcement that we will be again running our own internal Open competition! Just like last year, everyone will be divided up amongst teams and will compete for glory and recognition in a fun and supportive environment. One change to this year will be that you do not have to sign up for the open in order to compete on a team (however there will be less opportunity to gain points this way), this will allow those who are on the fence or nervous about actually signing up a chance to dip their toe in so to speak and get a taste of the competition without diving all the way in. I learned a lot from running it last year and I’ll be making a few tweaks here and there to make things even better for this year. Watch for more details soon. In the meantime sign up! or if you are on the fence, let me know and I’ll put you on the list. First workout starts end of Feb!
