PR Report

Hey Team,

So I was updating the leaderboard today and, like always, it never ceases to amaze me what PR’s people put up and on such a regular basis!  Our weekly PR board is almost always full of people achieving personal bests, which is so great to see.

It got me thinking though about what my favorite PR has been, and I thought I would turn the question on you guys.  Is there one (or two) PR’s that you have hit that mean something extra special to you?  Perhaps conquering a skill or lifting a weight you never thought possible?

Let us know in the comments below!

Today’s Workout

Buy-in: Heavy Russian Kettlebell Swings – 4 x 12

  • The russian swing is only to shoulder height and the focus is on hip “pop”
  • Take 2 warm up sets to the weight you would use in a typical workout
  • Then perform 4 sets at a heavier weight than you would usually use
  • Focus on the arms as “hooks” to the weight

WOD: “Skywalker”

This is a “station” workout and you’ll be rotating through each on a timer. Your goal is to execute as many quality repetitions as possible while not pushing to a high level of fatigue as this is a skill based workout and will not have a score attached to it (i.e. REST as NEEDED!).

  • 45 sec at each station, 45 sec rest between
  • 4 x through full circuit (24 mins)
  • Wall Walks (walk up into a handstand and back down – work with a spotter if this is your first time!)
  • Toes to bar
  • Turkish Get-Ups
  • Pistol Squats

Zone 2 – scale wall walks to inchworms (fwd, bckwd) with feet at base of wall, scale all other movements as needed

Zone 1 – scale as needed

Cash-Out: Double under practice – go for a new PR!

  1. My first(and only) Muscle Up! I think the next time I get one I will likely cry because I almost cried of joy and surprise when I did my first muscle-up!

  2. Brandt Linkowski

Getting kipping pull ups has been a HUGE milestone for me. For my first baseline workout, I used two rubber bands to squeak out 10 spastic pull ups. Now, with a lot of hard work, dieting, and great skill sessions with Deanna, I can now do 10 unbroken kipping pull ups. For sets. Yeaaah!! I have other goals now, but this one will always be the most memorable one for me because I wanted it so bad.

  3. I’ve been excited about a few PR’s, especially the ones I said to myself in the past ‘I can never do that.’ I can now do ring dips, strict pull ups and chin ups and run a pretty good 400 m. The best ‘PR’ if you will, is learning a new way to think, that I CAN do…whatever!! So thanks to D and Cam and coaches and fellow athletes for helping me with that! We CAN do….whatever we set our minds to….

  4. Grace, Rx. It took about 10 minutes, and was about the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But now I’m not as scared about 135lbs!

  5. Anything with upper body 😉
After being told you’re not strong, to realize that you’re able to do more than you think is so empowering. That’s why I echo Kath’s sentiments. We are so blessed to have such an incredible community led by our fantastic coaches that help us realize we are capable of anything!
    Miss you all xoxo
