What does community mean to you?

Recently there was an article posted on Breaking Muscle discussing the current state of online CrossFitter interactions versus the forum discussions of the “good old days” (article can be found here). The gist is that things have changed, and the mutual respect and civility that defined online interactions years past amongst CrossFitters is now gone, and is replaced with the spiteful trolling that is so prevalent in today’s internet.

What do you think? Have things changed? Is this the inevitable result of a growing community? What brings you into the gym? Is it the workouts? The camaraderie you feel with your fellow worker-outers? Is it the idea of CrossFit?  Is this author being fair in their assessment of the actions of CrossFit “HQ?”
