Battle of the Gyms

As you all have heard, we will be taking over possession of CrossFit Vancouver Island as of January 2, 2013.  Yippeeeeee!!!!

Sandy and I had a meeting a couple weeks back with Dave and Stephanie (from CVI)  and we came up with a great idea to promote some friendly competition between the two locations.  As of January 2013, there will be a monthly competition for a trophy,  this competition is the Battle of the Gyms.

We decided to start off nice and easy for the first competition to see where the cup will start…. The first competition will be Max Burpees in 1 minute.  In the last week of January (Jan 25-31st), all athletes at each location will complete their burpees and submit their score to their coach.  We will prorate the scores by the number of members that complete the challenge at each gym to determine which gym completed the most burpees.  The gym that completed the most burpees will be awarded the cup!  The goal is to try to keep the cup in your gym!

Buy In – Coach led mobility / dynamic warmup

WOD -“Gripzilla”

Complete as many rounds as possible in 20 mins of:
5 Thrusters, 65/95lbs
7 Hang Power Cleans, 65/95lbs
10 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, 95/65lbs

Zone 3 – scale bar to 55/75lbs
Zone 2 – scale bar to 45/65lbs
Zone 1 – scale as needed
Partner Option – partner 1 does 5 thrusters, parnter 2 does 5 thrusters; partner 1 does 7 cleans, partner 2 does 7 cleans…

Cash Out – 100 – 200  double unders for time
