Competitors… Start your engines!

Hello all,

So the 3rd Annual Taranis Winter Challenge is coming up quickly – about 6 weeks til it all goes down – so that means we need to be sure we’re covering all of our bases before the big weekend.

I’ll be hosting a meeting for all competitors (Team competitors welcome!) this coming Sunday, October 2 at 4pm.  We’ll come together and discuss gaps in our preparation and how to best cover them, as well as what to do in terms of your nutrition, psychology, and recovery on competition day and between competition days to maximize your performance.

If there’s interest, we can even throw down a workout together to get the juices flowing.

RSVP to the comments if you’re planning on attending and if you’d like to participate in a team workout!

Hope to see you there,

Turts.

Today’s Workout

Buy-in:  3 rds – 5 goblet squats, 10 pvc overhead squats, 10 double crunch

WOD:  “Dub”

This WOD is named after our very own Warren “Dub” Reeves (or is it “Dubs”?).  He’s a strong man, and crushing barbells is securely in his wheelhouse.  Enjoy.

This is an interval workout, with each successive interval starting on a 4 min clock.  The faster you complete each interval, the more rest you have!  Ideally, you will scale effectively so that you have about 2.5-3min of rest each round.

5 rounds for individual time of:

  • 6 squat cleans (115/155)
  • 6 push jerks
  • Your slowest time for any one round is your score
  • These should be heavy but ideally you will able to not drop off too much over the course of the 5 rounds

Zone 4:  scale weight to 95/135

Zone 3:  scale weight to 75/115

Zone 2:  scale weight to 55/75

Zone 1:  scale as needed

Cash-Out:  accumulate 3 min in the bottom position of a squat, holding a pillar for support.  Move out of the position every 30sec and shake out your legs
