Why pause?

Keys to the pause snatch: So there is a reason we are doing this, it isn’t just so you can hang out in an awkward position.  Pause work does a few things. Build strength in a movement by increasing the time under tension and more importantly in the olympic lifts, allow you to stop and “check in” with how the movement is going. For most of us, the lift is won or lost on the first pull, too far forward, hips out of position etc will lead to issues with the rest of the lift. Use this pause to do a quick mental check as to your body position and if you are out, take the time to correct.  Have the coach watch for weight distribution and body angles, this will really set you up for a successful lift
