A Billion Points of Awesomeness

Photo of Blair from: getfizzycal.com

Hey all,

If you haven’t yet seen this series of videos from Blair Morrison (CrossFit superstar and 5th place at this years Games), then you are missing out big time!  There are TONS of videos out there, but few really emit the true spirit and feeling of CrossFit – community, fitness, friends, experience.

Blair is well known for his traveling ways and in this series, he is in Iceland, leading a CrossFit tour through his affiliate, CrossFit Anywhere.  People have shown up from all over the Western globe to join him and enjoy not only the amazing scenery of Iceland, but also to train, make friends, and have good times.

Check out the videos, they are about 20-30min long each but well worth a watch if you’ve got some spare time.  Of particular note is the buddy carry up the side of a volcano crater!

Enjoy,

Turts.

Today’s Workout

Buy-in:  Warm up well before class then play around with some rope climbs (only up to the white tape mark halfway) – it might be a while before we get to really work these into our workouts!

  • Try pulling yourself up from lying to standing if you aren’t experienced with rope climbs
  • Experiment with using your legs and arms together
  • Try arms only for a good challenge
  • 15 min time limit, share the ropes peeps!

WOD:  PlateMate

This is a brand new Turts WOD, sure to be a good one!

15 min amrap of:

  • 300m run carrying weight plate (25/45)
  • 12 walking lunges holding the plate (any way you like)
  • 12 thrusters with the plate
  • If the plate touches the ground at any time during the run or during your walking lunges or thruster reps, 5 burpees on the spot!  You can rest between movements but must complete all 12 reps continuously
  • 25 reps per round (run is 1 rep – burpees don’t count!)

Zone 2 – scale weight plate to 15/35

Zone 1 – scale as needed
