BBBS…Who?

It’s almost time for our Fight Gone Bad fundraiser challenge!  You Zoners have heard about it, but we want to make sure you know exactly WHY we’re having it.

Our awe-inspiring members, Donald Peterson and Rob Mackay, are running 300km For The Kids. Their challenge kicks off on Monday October 5th, 2009, when these 2 ultra-marathoners will start running the Royal Victoria Marathon route 7 days straight, reaching a total of 300km in seven days time. Why on earth would anyone want to do this? For a fabulous cause, of course! They will be running to raise money and awareness for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization of Victoria.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria is a non-profit organization that serves children and youth in the Victoria Capital Region. The whole premise around Big Brothers Big Sisters is that an adult “Big” is matched with a child, or youth, “Little” based on similar interests. Together, the two will form a partnership and build a friendship based on respect and trust. The big idea here surrounds the theory that the healthy development of a child can be enhanced by positive, nurturing relationships with caring adults.

Sounds like a pretty worthy cause, am I right? So let’s all pitch in and help to raise money for this outstanding community organization! If you haven’t done so already, register your team with CrossFit Zone and come on down to take part in our Fight Gone Bad fundraiser, set to take place on Sept 26th at our gym. Pledges collected by your team will be donated to Rob and Donald’s cause. Let’s help them make this happen for BBBS!
