Beach Books

The Fit as Fu*k website had a great idea that I thought I’d pass on.  Seeing as many of us like to do training research online, but of course it’s always nice to sit down somewhere (like at a beach or in the park) and read a proper book!

To give you some summer reading ideas, here are some trainig related literature recommendations courtesy of F.A.F.:

“Mastery: The Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment ” by George Leonard

Why it’s worth reading:

Reminds you that you are not always going to see steady improvement (you can’t keep adding 2.5kgs to your snatch every week) you will plateau and feel like you are not improving. The book talks about this and how the master knows that these plateaus have to occur and you should learn to love the plateau as you will eventually improve and gives some tools for success.

“Mental training for peak performance” by Steven Ungerleider

Why it’s worth reading:

this book gives great examples of how mental training can be implemented into the physical training, combined with short anecdotes and stories from world class athletes experiences of the importance of mental training.

The book is divided into chapters concerning specific mental training techniques, which gives the reader an opportunity to try out simple techniques themselves without supervision.

The book also take into consideration specific sport disciplines, such as cycling, golf, running, swimming an much more. An easy to read practical book with great points on the mental aspects.

“Kiss or Kill” by Mark Twight

Why it’s worth reading:

Reading about the best of the best in any sport is great. Something drove them to what they did and the way the did it. This is how Mark Twight, founder of Gym Jones, tells his story about his sport and the things that went down at that time.

  1. b will be blogging from the games again this year. i don't think i will be live updating from the event as the wifi connection blew last year but will be providing some kind of update at the end of the day probably. the links will be shared and updated on my fb or you can go directly to my blog: http://inmylife-b.blogspot.ca/

  2. Hmm is anyone else experiencing problems with the images on this blog loading?
I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest
twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

  4. The owner decided after the event to donate half of
the proceeds back to the students. Unfortunately for me as
an addict, I need my crime fix. Spice things up by including these Halloween-themes recipes:.

  5. Why people still use to read news papers when in this
technological globe the whole thing is accessible on net?
The movement from horror based games started with Resident Evil 4 which still managed
to entertain us and cause a hugely positive effect around gamers, it wasn’t until RE5 that really changed the way the game was played due to the forced cooperation of the game. In previous gaming showcases, like E3, demonstrations were made to the industry and the press only. I rented it for a few days and thoroughly enjoyed playing it for a few hours a day, however if I were to buy this game I’d wait
for the price to depreciate quite a ways before purchasing.
