Crossfit Games Update

Hello all,

So the first WOD is still running and the number of results worldwide has mounted up to 5 or 6 thousand… with more to come!  Many of our Zoners have taken on the workout while others are waiting until the right moment to crush it!

For those of you who haven’t done the WOD yet or are aiming to have a second go at it, we’ll be holding an official time slot on Sunday from 130-330pm for you to get it done.  All scores MUST be in on Sunday night or it will not count!  They have extended the deadline for this week but I would not risk it – make sure your score is submitted by 5pm Sunday at the latest.  Please RSVP to the comments if you are planning to come in and do the WOD.

Any and all volunteer judges are welcome as long as you are comfortable with the movement standards, can count double unders quickly, and have no problem making quick calls on reps.

Non-competitors can drop by and work on skills in an Open Gym format with the caveat that priority will be given to athletes pursuing their Games attempts.

Competitors/judges who have not recieved Games emails from me but would like to be on the list, send me an message at cam(at)crossfitzone.ca.

Turts.

  1. Dee, I checked the invite and my friend’s wedding is at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon. Can I take you up on the offer to do the WOD Sunday morning before the foundations seminar?

  2. Havent decided yet, but I will come in and help judge for sure. As I see my place drop lower in the standings, the chances of a re do are higher!

  3. So according to the Games site, they’re extending the workout for another week. Week one results are apparently not due until the 27th and the second workout won’t be announced until the 29th.
Kind of ridiculous: You now have an extra week to register and nail the Week 1 workout. All the rules are the same, but we are now allowing you until Sunday, March 27 at 17:00 PDT, a full extra week, to perform your workout and submit your results. As always, you are welcome to repeat the workout any time before the deadline if you think you can do better. The Week 2 workout will be announced on Tuesday, March 29 at 17:00 PDT, with the submission deadline Sunday, April 3 at 17:00 PDT (again, this is Week 2).

  4. Complete BS in my books…

First of all: get the F’ing games site right IN ADVANCE. Honestly.

Secondly: Extending the opens by 1 week may complicate more things for more people than having a few glitches in week 1

Thirdly: The Canada West Regional is the in the first week, so given the extra week of opens, we have less time to prepare between the last open and the regional.

    Very frustrating…

  5. WOW is all I have to say! This is gonna be interesting if they decide to keep the comp extended one week. Either the last workout will become null or a lot of atheletes will not be going to regionals and the games since they can’t complete the last workout. Better chance for us then 😉

Nicole, are you still wanted to come in tomorrow am or get it done sometime in the week?

  6. Tomorrow is still on – here is my advice: get this wod done and over with so we can focus on what is going to come down the pipe. The temptation now is to keep working on this wods bits and pieces and put it off. Don’t do that!

We need to get skill work, conditioning, and strength pieces in each week to do our best through the sectionals – doing this WOD (or other wods) multiple times over the next week will screw that up.

Get your minds in the game people and come to throw DOWN tomorrow – treat it as your last shot, give it your all, and get ready to get back into training.

I expect you all ready to go into regular work on Tuesday.

    See ya tomorrow

    turts.

  7. Did these guys just figure out that they were running a world wide competition in an unproven format? get your sh*t together, there is no reason for any of this. In addition, you get one chance in a real competition, not 2 weeks of attempts. There is going to be a lot of people at the regionals in for a bit of a shock I think

  8. Dee as much as I would like to get this over and done with, I would appreciate to do it early in the week, the timings for tomorrow’s wedding are getting tighter and tighter! I will talk with you on Mon and arrange a redo. As much as this seems unprofessional, I am not going to lie, I am appreciating the extra time this week!

  9. Would it be easy enough to set up a camera to record the open wods, like you guys set up the web cam for streaming the zone games? Not for submission to the games site, just as a back up. Judging is a lot of pressure, and it might be nice to have something to refer back to if there is confusion.

  10. Not a bad idea there Jenn, I’ll look into setting something up… it’s too bad the live feed system doesn’t record since it gets a good view of the whole gym…
