Yes, we all know you have a life, and exercise takes a backseat sometimes. But you can keep it a priority for good. Here’s how:
Excuse #1 – “I don’t have time to work out!”
This is probably the most popular excuse when people are asked why they don’t exercise. I am not going to sit here and try to tell you that your schedule is not hectic, but I am going to sit here and tell you that no matter how busy you are in a day there is always time to workout. All that is required is about 30-60 min of exercise a day, that’s it. That’s one simple CrossFit Zone class! Perhaps you could even try a morning class, if that works with your schedule, and get your exercise in at the start of the day when you’re more fresh.
Excuse #2 – “I’m too tired to exercise.”
This is another excuse that’s not going to cut it. Research has shown that 30-45 min of medium to high intensity exercise revitalizes the body and regenerates your energy levels. This means that exercising actually helps to take your tiredness away! Start out by tricking your body, and your brain. Remember, once you start moving around and actually warming up for your exercise, more blood and oxygen are being pumped to your brain and muscles, so you feel better. After a few minutes, you’ll feel energized and want to step up the pace and work harder. Plus, after you’re done, you’ll feel invigorated and satisfied with your accomplishment!
Excuse #3 – “I travel all the time, so it’s difficult to stick to a routine.”
The great thing about CrossFit is, when need be, you can take your workout on the road. For those of you who don’t know, Eva Twardokens is an amazing CrossFit athlete and she keeps a helpful blog where she posts different body weight workouts each day. If you’re on the road and you don’t have access to a lot of equipment, try doing one of her handy adapted CrossFit workouts. Click here to check it out: http://skievat.blogspot.com/
Excuse #4 – “I’m self conscious, and going to the gym intimidates me.”
When you’re working out in a supportive environment like CrossFit Zone, you’re less likely to feel that familiar intimidation. With our team atmosphere and group mentality, we’re all here to cheer for each other. If you don’t know something, just ask! Once you feel more familiar with the moves and with your skill level, you’ll be ready to bust out of that zone of uncertainty!
If you’re really serious about losing weight or wanting to live a healthier lifestyle, than stop spending all your time coming up with reasons why you can’t exercise. Instead, spend your time coming up with reasons why you can, and you’ll notice results before you know it. Getting started is the hardest part. But once exercise is part of your daily routine, it’ll be like second nature to you and you won’t even have to think about it!
