We had a lot of requests for this Skill for the month of May, so here it is!!! We are bringing back the gymnastics move HANDSTAND PUSHUP!
How the challenge will work:
Test your max HANDSTAND PUSHUP (HSPU) or progression reps:
- Strict HSPU head to floor
- Kipping HSPU head to floor
- Strict HSPU to an Abmat (s)
- Kipping HSPU to an Abmat (s)
- Strict HSPU with feet on a box
- Strict HSPU with knees on the box
Whatever progression you choose with this exercise, you must retest with the same progression for the scoring. Please try to progress to a more challenging movement through the month.
How can I get stronger with the HSPU?
- Hollow rocks to build core strength
- Work on the movement in a way that it allows you to move through the whole ROM (head to floor) on a box or with rubber band assistance
- Slowly pullup up abmats to challenge yourself as you get stronger
- Practice handstand static holds
- Compliment your training with pushups (elbows in), ring dips and push press
- Book a session with your Coach
- Attends Sam’s Gymnastics classes on Tuesday and Thursday 7:30pm downtown
Open Gym (downtown):
- 8:00am – 9:30pm
- 10:30am – 12:15pm
- 1:15pm – 4:30pm

This skill of the month is going to fun 🙂
