Sean competing in the Helen Challenge finals!
1.How did you find CrossFit?
A friend of mine in the Navy used to talk about it and I had looked at it on line but it wasn’t until Colleen went one day that I really tried the workouts
2.What is your favourite CrossFit exercise or WOD?
Anything that leaves me an exhausted mess, I love filthy fifty, crazy eights or any of those long ones that push you both mentally and physically
3. How long have you been CrossFitting for?
I guess It has been a year and a half, but between being injured or away it seems less than that
4. What do you do for a living?
I am a MARS Officer in the Navy, basically that means I am the guy on the bridge making sure the ship is going where it is supposed to go and doing what she is supposed to do, although right now I am still under training so there is always someone making sure I am not screwing up 😉
5. What are your hobbies?
I bike a lot, play hockey in the winter and try to run when I can. Most of my free time lately has been spent at Crossfit Zone.
6. What are your goals?
I don’t have any specific goals in terms of a certain weight to lift or time to beat, my goal for this year (my 30th) was to be in the best shape of my life and I think I pretty much did that. (kinda cool that 30 year old me could whip 20 year old me in pretty much any WOD.) I guess the goals for next year will be to just be one level better than I am now, oh yah I do want to be able muscle-up but I gotta let my wrist heal first.
7. Why do you CrossFit?
I like the diversity, the philosophy and especially the people and atmosphere that Crossfit Zone provides. It keeps the energy up and there is always that motivation to keep you going. Plus going back to a regular gym is just really boring now.
8. Any advice for future CrossFitters?
You really just have to try it, people can try to explain what Crossfit is all about but until you do your first WOD you won’t really truly understand the difference.(and find out just what level of fitness you truly are at)
Thanks Sean! It is always a pleasure to have you at the CrossFit gym and all the community/social events. I love how dedicated you are and willing to help anyone out in the class that is struggling.

Way to go Sean! You mentioned the word ‘Warfare’ a few months ago when you were describing your job to me.
I think the rest of you can agree that Sean goes to war when doing a WOD.
Your nickname is now Warfare.
Sean is my hero!!!
Way to go with MARS Sean, I’ve heard it’s some hard training! Do you know Amanda Finn? We did ACS together but she’s a MARS Officer now, pretty sure on this coast.
I’ve met her a couple of times, she did her training a bit after me….not to sure where she ended up actually
i have met that sean guy, his fiance is hot!
great job sean, you are so supportive and always push yourself in the gym, you are a great inspiration. we will try and get you a new wrist as a wedding present!
Yeah….. warfare!! deadly nickname. I’m kinda fond of “Dolph” though since sean looks like he stepped out of the movie “universal soldier” after some WODs! (he will disagree of course…).
Great to have you around Sean, you improve steadily and ALWAYS come to give it 100% plus you are a sick rowing machine.
PS. Super happy to see two such cool people (colleen and sean) get hitched too 🙂
Turts
just wait until I start my steroid routine…..then I will look like Dolph 😉
