Take time off!

CrossFit Victoria BC - Oly taking some time off to enjoy the sun!
Oly taking some time off to enjoy the sun!

I know that you all LOVE CrossFit so much!  But it is very important to listen to your body, by this I mean:

1. Has your performance plateaued?
2. Are you pushing hard on the WOD’s and getting poor or mediocre results?
3. Do you keep getting injured?
4. Are your benchmark times increasing?
5. Are you feeling exhausted?
6. Have you been sick more than two times this year?

When is the last time you took a FULL week off?  When I say a full week, I mean 7 days on not doing ANY TRAINING! I am sure you have taken time off from the WOD’s and maybe just went for a few runs or a hike.  But you need to take some time off and do NO TRAINING! You will not lose strength or endurance.  You will actually come back even stronger!

If it has been longer than 6 months, or you can’t remember the last time, then guess what… it’s time!  In that time off your body will get a chance to rest, recuperate, repair, and rejuvenate so it is ready to get some new PR’s!

Is there any trends that you are noticing with your body or workouts that you are not sure why they are happening?  When are YOU going to be taking some time off?  Take advantage of the beautiful summer weather to help your recovery 🙂

Recovery is why you get better, not more training!
