What is a Community?

In biological terms, a community is a group of interacting organisms sharing an environment. In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness.

What is a CrossFit Community?

There is no real definition of what a CrossFit community is. It is a community, with an unbelievable display of support and encouragement, which may be unique to CrossFit with regards to sports, but it is not unique to just the CrossFit Games. This amazing energy can be found in every affiliate around the world! You can walk into any affiliate and you are welcomed, like it is your home. This is what makes CrossFit, CrossFit! It does not matter the number of members, the location, or the aesthetics of the box… it’s about the people inside and the strong connection they have. Everyone is family!

We are not a “team” in the traditional sense, and yet we have a loyalty that cannot be matched. CrossFit is not like a sports competition for trophies or medals and yet we give it our all, each and every workout! We come from all different walks of life, different age groups, and athletic backgrounds, and yet find a common ground when we enter the gym doors. We are all competitors, but we still encourage and support each other.
One great word to describe CrossFitter’s is “Camaraderie”
