WOD -Killah of the Month

It is that time of month again to announce our WOD-Killah for June. **Drum roll please…..**

Our next WOD-Killah is the wonderful Super Mom Kandas Lee!  Kandas has been a dedicated Zone athlete for almost 2 years.  When Kandas came out she was very shy in the gym and didn’t know she had Super MOM strength.  Earlier in the year, a bunch of the Zone Moms decided to give the Zone Games a go, and that competition lit a fire under her gluteus maximus! Since then, Kandas has upped her sessions to 4 days a week and has dialed in her technique, resulting in her hitting PR’s all over the place.

Take a look at her video to see how the Zone has changed not just her life, but her family’s.  Way to go Kandas!!!

Today’s Workout

Buy-in: 10 min of power clean and push press practice

  • then – form a team of 3 – theme is Jungle Animals

WOD:  Team Barty (it’s a Bar Party!)

In a team of three, preferably with one bar (2 bar max), AMRAP in 30 min of:

  • 3 rounds (each person, 1 person at a time) of:  3 deadlifts, 3 power cleans, 3 push press (95/135)
  • 300m corner run – Herald and Douglas and back (each person, 1 person at a time)
  • person 1 does the bar complex, then person 2, then person 3
  • person 1 then does the run, followed by person 2 and then person 3, then back to bar
  • score is # of points – each round of barbell complex is worth 1pt (3 rds = 3pts per person), each run is worth 1pt
  • so, one complete circuit of both the complex and the run for a team of three is 12 pts

Zone 3 – scale bar weight to 75/115

Zone 2 – scale bar weight to 55/75, option of 200m run and/or shorter AMRAP time

Zone 1 – scale bar weight as needed, 200m run

Cash-Out: foam roll and lacrosse ball the angry bits!

NEWSFLASH!  There will be a camera crew from A Channel coming down to check out our boy Scoots coaching the 1215 class.  If you’re thinking about hitting the WOD and want to get some camera time, pop on down!  If you don’t want to be on camera, no worries, easy editing can be done so come on down too!

  1. You just keep getting stronger and faster and you really have a new found confidence that is so inspiring! Crossfit is all about expecting the unexpected and meeting the challenge. Way to represent and show such commitment- I am soooo proud of you!!!

  2. Heather Cameron

What a wonderful video. I hope that lots of Mom’s get a chance to see this video and the impact that Crossfit can have on both your life and your families. I know your children look at you and see the strong and confident mother and woman that you are. Did I also mention that you look totally hot in the video!

  3. I can only echo what Nicci and Heather have said – what an amazing video Kandas. Your words are very moving. You’re so positive, and very inspiring!

  4. okay best video ever! kandas-you are such an amazing person! we are so lucky to have you and your family as part of our own. great perspective on life and you are totally killing those wods!

  5. I would have to agree; you inspire me everyday. Words cannot express what changes you have made to my life.

  6. Fantastic video!!! Kandas, you are such an inspiration. Its so nice to see moms take time for themselves to do something that’s fun and healthy. You have come such a long way since you started, great to see the PR’s and goals.

  7. Bravo Kandas! It’s a challenge coping with busy children (your 2 young ones and the older, more difficult one!), and still managing to look after yourself. Very inspiring!

  8. Saweet video, great pic at the top too – awesome work Kandas! The balancing act of life is always interesting, sounds like you guys have it figured out… good indication (once more) that what we do in Crossfit is more than what the body shows.

Great having you, Kingsley, Katie and Kaleb around, awesome crew of amazing people 🙂

  9. Way to go, Kandas! You are a stellar role model and it’s great to watch you grow as an athlete! Yay, superstar!

  10. Nice one Kandas!! It’s been great getting to know you and your crew at the various zone events! keep up the great work and I’ll see you at the next Zone games in the intermediate division:)

  11. Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. The little victories I get in the gym have a lot to do with the people in the crossfit zone family. It is great to be able to have a place to go to that everyone is striving for the same goals and everyone wants to see their fellow athletes succeed. Thank you as well for welcoming our kids into the gym and for watching them at events, encouraging them, and even running track with them. It is summer vacation so hopefully I can continue to find a good balance between home and gym.
