I sent an email to Crossfit Palo Alto today to see if I can do a drop in on Monday.
There’s another affiliate that’s about the same distance away as well and then there’s a third that’s still in Palo Alto but more of a commute. I’ll probably try the first two and see how it goes.
Crossfit Zone Team Tryout WODS
– All events will be ranked, scoring will be one point for first, two points for second, and so on.
– Best overall finishers will be calculated from overall total points (lowest is best)
WOD1: 12 minutes to find the following, total all numbers lifted for your score:
– Max chest to bars (girls max pull-ups, count double for chest to bar)
– Squat clean thruster 1 rep max
– Overhead squat, 15 rep max
10 min break
WOD2 – For total time:
– Last placers from first wod go first
– 1000m row and 1000m run
– No rest between row and run
15 minute break from last finishers
WOD3 – For time:
– Lowest placers from wod 1 and 2 go first
– 30 wallballs (14/20)
– 30 burpees
– 30 swings (35/55)
– 30 floor to overhead (65/95)
– 30 toes to bar
– 30 double unders

Nah it was good, the chipper was tough after doing the row/run. Tough on the forearms too.

That was quite the morning workout. When I started doing crossfit, about a year or more ago, I mainly did the WODs alone. This makes it easy to cheat or selectively do the WODs that you know you are good at… almost the exact opposite of how one should tackle crossfit.
I’m always excited to come workout with such a dedicated group of people and I know that you will all help form me into the terrifying maniac that I’ve always wanted to be.

Nice work today everyone! Excellent energy and commitment shown by all, and also very good technique which we all know is tough under the duress of fatigue.
I do feel bad for Tom though and I’m going to suggest we allow him to re-do the second wod due to his rower not starting at the right time. Since I’m making this offer to him, it’s only fair that the rest of you get to re-do it if you like.
