Winter Challenge Update

Any guesses to what this is???  This is a new piece of equipment that is being built for the Winter Challenge.

For those of you Zoners that are interested in what is going on at the Winter Challenge, here is the most updated info on the weekend.  If you are interested in coming to watch and have not yet got a ticket, you will have to head to Taranis nice and early to see if you can get a ticket before they sell out at the door.

The following is the schedule of events and gym hours for the competition this weekend. There may be minor revisions before the actual commencement of the Challenge, however it will be very close to as you see it.

Friday November 4th, 2011

ALL athlete check in at CrossFit Taranis 1400 hrs – 1700 hrs

Spectator tickets on sale for Friday night’s event 1530 hrs

Announcement of WOD #1 1715 hrs
Commencement of individual heats 1800 hrs
Announcement of WOD #2 1920 hrs
Commencement of team heats 1930 hrs
WOD #1 completed for all athletes 2030 hrs

Saturday November 5th, 2011

Gym opens and spectator tickets on sale 0730 hrs

All athletes on location 0800 hrs

WOD #2 commences 0815 hrs
WOD #2 completed for all athletes 0935

Announcement of WOD #3 1000 hrs
Commencement of individual heats 1030 hrs
Commencement of team heats 1215 hrs
WOD #3 completed for all athletes 1312 hrs

Announcement of WOD #4 1315 hrs
Commencement of individual heats 1345 hrs
Commencement of team heats 1550 hrs
WOD #4 completed for all athletes 1725 hrs

Top eight teams advancing to Sunday’s finals bracket announced 1745-1800 approximately

Sunday November 6th, 2011

Doors open and spectator tickets on sale 0730 hrs

WOD #5 announcement 0800
*note!! Commencement of first team knockout round (quarter finals) 0830 hrs
Commencement of individual heats 1000 hrs
WOD #5 completed for all athletes 1218 hrs

Announcement of WOD #6 1220 hrs
Commencement of second team knockout round (semi finals) 1250 hrs
Announcement of team finals 1320 hrs
Commencement of individual heats 1330 hrs
WOD #6 completed for all athletes 1504 hrs
Commencement of team event deciding 3rd place 1515 hrs
Commencement of team finals 1530 hrs

Awards and wrap up 1600-1615 hrs approximately

As always, we will do our best to stay as close to the schedule as humanly possible.

Team heats will be the pool that you have been allocated to. Remember; you need to come top 2 in your pool. For the “round robin” play you are only being ranked against teams in your pool not against the entire field of 20.

Individual heats for Friday night’s WOD will be a random draw. You will then be re-organized into new heats following completion of WOD #1 and WOD #4.

IMPORTANT CLASS UPDATES:

  • Saturday, November 5th 9:00am will be cancelled
  • Saturday, November 5th 10:00am will be running
  • Saturday, November 5th 11:00am intro will be cancelled
  • Sunday, November 6th – there will be no Open Gym session

Q.O.D: What do you think the first workout will be on Friday night?

Today’s Workout:

Buy In – 3 rounds of: 10 pvc dislocates, 10 ring rows, 5 inchworms, 5 glute bridges (hold 2-3 sec. each), 10 jump squats

Followed by a coach led demo of Dumbbell snatches

Workout- “Nice Snatch”

21-15-9 rep rounds of:
Left-arm DB snatch, 35/55lbs
Right-arm DB snatch, 35/55lbs
L Pull-ups

Zone 3 – Scale snatch to 20/35lbs, scale to regular pullups

Zone 2 – Scale snatch as needed, scale pullups to assisted pullups

Zone 1 – Scale workout as needed

Cash Out – Max ab-mat situps in 2 minutes, followed by a group foam roll
